The incentive amount is proportional to the usable battery capacity (measured in kilowatt-hours, kWh). Larger batteries receive a greater incentive, but batteries over 28 kWh are not eligible for any discount.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for the NSW battery rebate are straightforward, with no income-based restrictions like the Victorian solar rebate. Here's what you need to qualify:

• You must reside in New South Wales.

• The installation can be for a home or small business.

• The system can include new solar panels alongside the battery.

• The installation must be connected to the grid (off-grid systems are excluded).

• The battery capacity must be between 2 kWh and 28 kWh.

• The battery must be listed on the Clean Energy Council’s Approved Battery List.
